Conservation

The most renewable energy is energy that is never used. When producing energy using renewable technology, it is a rule of thumb that every $1 spent on energy efficiency saves $3 on system costs.

While SRE is spending a lot of time on increasing renewable production on campus, we understand that efficiency and conservation are also key.

We are currently working with the REC Center to help decrease their energy use. (see "Western re-examining new building" The Western Front- 05.17.07)
