Generator Bikes

Our project's goal is to put electricity-generating bicycles in the rec center. The Bikes will be able to produce about 100-300 watts of electricity depending on how much effort the rider uses. We hope to hook the bikes directly into the power grid of the Rec center.

Students will also be able to get a better sense of what it takes to produce all the energy they consume daily. After realizing that your hour long session of sweating and panting would only be enough to charge your laptop or keep the lights on in your house, you might think twice about your energy consumption.

Although this amount of electricity isn't all that much, it's a step in the direction of a more sustainable future.
